Chapter#37

Pineapples!~ Jellybeans!~ PINEAPPLEBEANS!~

Hello there, welcome to another chapter of

Tonaye's Adventures to the World~

Today you won't be seeing much; in my

opinion, I don't think it's much, lols; 

But this was all that was for Lesson 2.

In this class we covered light and shadow 

and different forms of shading. I thought the 

names of the different types were pretty 

self explanatory, but...Well, they were, Lol~ 

Now I'm not gonna explain what these are cause...It might take awhile, and I'm not the best at explaining, Lols! So moving along!

To begin with, he said the first and easiest thing to do is the head. Since the head

is usually a round shape, we can shade it in as if its a sphere as depicted on the left.

Following that, you give abit of light to areas that'd catch abit of light~ Such as the nose.

Another thing he noted was sometimes you're allowed to exaggerate the lighting abit as

the picture can get boring with too much shadow overcast...As long as it makes sense.

I think this use of 'exaggeration' is used mainly 4 lumpy parts of surface, such as his cheek

bone and eyebrow muscle (frontalis)~Finally, you can just touch up on it abit from there.

I didn't like the direction of the light in the above pic, so i chose a more dynamic one below.

(Lol! "A more dynamic one below", get it?!?! :D)

Afterwards, we were asked to give another layer of shading...This time, it was

to cover areas that get 'zero' lighting. This part was a female hippo for me since

I knew the pose was wrong, so it kinda didn't make sense. 

I continued anyway, hoping no one will notice it, ha!~  

Can anyone tell the difference? Cause there is! Another note, my sis opposed to my style 

of rendering the hair - Anime style. She said I should color more realistically as it doesn't 

blend well with this pic, & stated that alot more of my art will look alot better this way as well. Thanks Cat.

Finally we add light to areas that attain most light. 

This part, we were told to make a grey background while doing so....

But in the end, he never told us how to rid of it =_=" Sooo...Huh?

The other 3/4 of the work were tasks coloring in shapes: Not so important for you

guys to know, haha. Well, that's it for LESSON 2~ SEE YOU NEXT TiME. :)

Chapter#36

Wow! It's been exactly one month since I've posted, folks!! xD Sorry!

What have I been up to lately? I didn't intend to involve my personal life in my blog
but what's a blog without some life stories? Lol, I'll just put in afew quick short sentences;
- Got rejected from getting a job I've been working towards for.
    = Wasted a month of studying / putting up with crap for a month
           = Wasted precious time when I could've focused on studying
                   = The thought of that caused me to waste even more time.
And that sums it up. And also I've been watching Anime to get back motivation
in my life which is how I got here now (: Initial D!!!~ Anyway! Back to ol' me!~

Today, I intend to inform you guys about the classes I've been taking up online~
Now from here on out, if you follow my blog I guarantee you'll learn at LEAST two
or three important special techniques that you'll be able to use later on in future works!
Art - Photoshop wise, of course. Lol, also; by telling you guys this, I'm saving you
$400 dollars from participating the real course! So yeah. ANYWAY. Let's get on with it!

So for my first lesson, I have to create a drawing I did on paper, onto Photoshop.
I did the drawing on Photoshop before I even did it on paper. I created more trouble
for myself. Great, Scott. Anyway, I made that mistake because I was paying more
attention to what the teacher was doing rather than the actual task I was given.
So smart I am! Anyway, first we (he) had to create a drawing using random blobs
we sketched out on paper. Alot of mine turned out 'too big', or wasn't suitable for the
tasks he was gonna administrate afterwards, so I had to restart a couple times.

    I ended up with this:

Looks like something? I hope so! 

After that, I was told to create a more solid figure out of it now that I have the shape 

I want. The idea of this technique is to get the artist to relax and explore the possibilities 

before reaching the final concept of the artwork.

 

Each time we 'refined' the piece, we had to use a new layer to maximize efficiency. 

So my next layer looked like above!~ And now we can actually see the figure shape of the drawing ^^

Followed by that, step 3 involved adding all the

main details to the drawing, while still trying to keep a relaxed feeling towards creating 

the piece. I think this was the most important step followed by step 4, as it involved 

inputting all parts that'll add up to the finale. This is the most fun part too :).

Step 4; by here we stop brainstorming and focus on adding the small but many more details to the picture. Two main things to do here were add more small details to the pic, AND add 'weight' to the picture - Giving darker strokes adds form to the picture which in my sense, gives more 'life' to the picture, instead of being a flat image. Additionally, step 5 is same as step 4 but you clean up the picture a bit more. 

I would say step 5 is the same as step 4 BUT the main difference in this step involves flip

rotating your image...Has anyone flipped rotate their drawing before? 

IT MAKES IT LOOKED MESSED UP. 

Rotating a pic reveals all the mistakes in a drawing~

Mine had afew mistakes here and there which I quickly cleaned up,

but there was a HUGE mistake i did which made me want to start again.

But I'm kool, and I ignored it like a boss. Final looked like this:

So that's the end of the first lesson! :D

The class actually lasted from 1-2 hours, but I spent about 10 on this, LOL.

That includes breaks and procrastinating but (: Hope you's enjoyed!

Guyssss!!! I'm finally doneeeee~ *dies!

Hrm, as always, I kind of opposed to many (all of yous)
of your opinions. LOLOL. HI GUYS <3 Jokes...
Not really. I kept it simple as everyone said and
I'm glad alot of yous contributed in planning to my
ideas! The full version of the girl from my
previous post can be viewed >> Here! << 

I'm actually quite disappointed at the result although.
I thought it would've looked cooler on paper/screen,
and it did, but the more I look at it, it's so bland and
plain ==" Eh, oh wells, its an early concept, hope to
make a better illustration next time on this! :)

In similar news, I kind of went on and challenged
myself to continue my other more 'difficult' idea I
had when creating this piece...And well, it looked good to begin with, but then it got too messy and so the whole idea was scrapped S:
I put abit of time into it as well so I believe it should've at least went to my gallery...
